Finnish Journal of Social Research is an annually published peer-reviewed journal focusing on research articles on, and relevant to, Finnish society. Its scope is multi-disciplinary, covering sociology, political science, and economics, as well as the other social sciences. Founded in 2007, the journal previously went by the name Research on Finnish Society. The journal is listed in the Finnish Publication Forum (JUFO id: 66149).

Finnish Journal of Social Research is an annually published peer-reviewed journal focusing on research articles relevant to Finnish society. Its scope is multi-disciplinary, covering sociology, political science, and economics, as well as the other social sciences. The articles published in the journal are to be based on high-quality data and appropriate methods, quantitative or qualitative. In particular, the journal encourages submissions with a cross-national comparative or historical perspective.
Finnish Journal of Social Research is published both in print and online (open access). ISSN: 2736-9749 (print), 2814-5038 (online). The journal is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
The journal is published by the Society of Social and Economic Research in the Universities of Turku (Turun korkeakoulujen yhteiskunnallistaloudellinen tutkimusyhdistys ry.) founded in 1957. The journal was founded in 2007, and previously went by the name Research on Finnish Society.
This journal has received a subsidy for scientific publishing granted by the Ministry of Education and Culture and distributed by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies.
The journal accepts original manuscripts written in good English. Submissions are accepted throughout the year, but there will also be a call for papers for each annual volume.
Peer review policy
The editors evaluate the submitted articles and decide which manuscripts are to be sent for double-blinded peer review. Final decisions are made based on reviews obtained from at least two experts, and these reviews are also communicated to the author(s). The journal has obtained the label for peer-reviewed scholarly publications of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies and is committed to following the required guidelines. The journal aims at a review cycle of eight weeks.
Open access policy
Finnish Journal of Social Research is an open access journal where all content from the journal is available on its website immediately and free of charge. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking for prior permission from the publisher or the author.
There are no article processing charges (APCS), submission charges or publication fees.

When submitting the final (accepted) version of their manuscript to Finnish Journal of Social Research authors agree to the following terms:
1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0) that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in Finnish Journal of Social Research.
2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in Finnish Journal of Social Research.
These terms are in effect from September 2020. For articles published before this time, copyright is shared between the journal and the authors.
Authors are also permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the peer review process.
