About the Journal

Finnish Journal of Social Research is an annually published peer-reviewed journal focusing on research articles relevant to Finnish society. Its scope is multi-disciplinary, covering sociology, political science, and economics, as well as the other social sciences. The articles published in the journal are to be based on high-quality data and appropriate methods, quantitative or qualitative. In particular, the journal encourages submissions with a cross-national comparative or historical perspective.

Finnish Journal of Social Research is published both in print and online (open access). ISSN: 2736-9749 (print), 2814-5038 (online). The journal is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

The journal is published by the Society of Social and Economic Research in the Universities of Turku (Turun korkeakoulujen yhteiskunnallistaloudellinen tutkimusyhdistys ry.) founded in 1957. The journal was founded in 2007, and previously went by the name Research on Finnish Society

The journal accepts original manuscripts written in good English. Submissions are accepted throughout the year, but there will also be a call for papers for each annual volume.

Peer review policy

The editors evaluate the submitted articles and decide which manuscripts are to be sent for double-blinded peer review. Final decisions are made based on reviews obtained from at least two experts, and these reviews are also communicated to the author(s). The journal has obtained the label for peer-reviewed scholarly publications of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies and is committed to following the required guidelines. More information about the label.

The journal aims at a review cycle of eight weeks.
